Market Data Overview: Quiet Borrowers, Global Lenders

Asia’s borrowers posted their quietest H1 since 2024. Asia’s agencies posted their busiest half ever - outside the region.
TXF Intelligence puts ECA-backed volume to Asian borrowers at $8.3bn in H1 2026, 11.5% of the global market, against a quarter of the book in 2019. Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Australian agencies wrote $22bn of cover in the same period; only $3.5bn of it stayed in Asia. This session sets the numbers for the two days ahead: where volume went, who now lends into Asia, why the ticket mix has shifted from LNG and offshore wind to minerals, semiconductors and grids - and what that means for the rest of 2026.
